Showering Nora

I am truly blessed with the most amazing friends EVER. Our first shower was given by the sweet ladies of my Sunday school class-Amanda, Allison, Abbie, Brandi, Laura and Michelle. It was a double shower for me and Ashley Maclin, who is having a little boy. They made the cutest pumpkin centerpiece that had the babies' initials on the sides and lots of yummy food. We were given gorgeous clothes, bonnets, bibs, blankets and a baby doll just to name a few of the gifts. I've known most of my church family my whole life, so it was so special having them there to celebrate Nora.

The next weekend, we were given a shower by some of my closest girlfriends-Sara B., Mel, Amy, Kathryn, McKenzie, Kristy, Nicole and Em. The shower was held at Sara B.'s new home. It looked amazing. I nearly lost it when I walked in and saw that their gift to us was a glider recliner!!! Like I said, I have AMAZING friends. They served brunch, which is my favorite, and the stairs were decorated with monogrammed onesies and burp cloths done by Nicole's mom. We got SO many wonderful gifts including a diaper bag, pearl bracelet, bedding, beautiful clothes and blankets, a piggy bank, a pack-n-play and a bouncy seat.  I was also given a necklace monogrammed with Nora's name, which I adore! Aunt Ellen topped it off with my dad's teddy bear in a shadow box.  She told me as I was opening it that it wouldn't make me cry.  Yeah right!! I cry watching Wheel of Fortune these days! It's hanging in the nursery, and I love it!

Our last shower was given by my coworkers. They went all out to make it special. It was SO sweet. They served lots of my favorite foods (guess it's no secret that I like to eat). Joyce H. made an amazing cake, of course, and little mints that looked like pacifiers. My mom, Becky, and Sarah also came to the shower. We received lots of practical gifts, which we definitely needed, like diapers, wipes, socks, picture frames, bottles, toys and of course, precious gowns and dresses.

Third Trimester

I went back to the doctor on October 27th to find out I'd gained 9.5 lbs in ONE MONTH.  I couldn't believe how much weight I'd gained since my last appointment.  I will admit I've been enjoying my share of cupcakes and doughnuts, but no more than I did in the first or second trimester!! Nora is growing fast, and so is her mom! At about 27 weeks, I've gained 20 lbs and still enjoying every minute of this pregnancy.  I failed my first glucose test and had to go back for the three hour test.  Thank goodness I passed the second one.

I'm going to the doctor every two weeks now.  We had an ultrasound at our Nov. 9 appointment, and Nora weighed 3 lbs and kept her hands over her mouth for most of the pictures.  We did manage to get few clear ones. Thankful to say Dr. Dulaney said everything still looks great.

Nora Ellen

I love her name.  For a while I had my heart set on Bettye Claire, Bettye being after my maternal grandmother.  She died soon after I was born, but I've never heard anything but wonderful things about her.  I love family names and wanted to not only do it because I think the name is cute, but also for my mom.  However, Logan wouldn't give in.  That's quite alright though.  I've liked the name Nora for years, and it's Logan's great grandmother's name.  She will also be a fourth generation Ellen-after my grandmother-Mary Ellen, my aunt-Ellen Forrest, and my sister-Sarah Ellen.  So....Nora Ellen Roberts it is.  Let the monogramming begin!!

At my appointment with Dr. Dulaney today, I told her I didn't think I was feeling movement yet.  She did the ultrasound and found lots of movement so I knew everything was fine. Then as soon as I sat up after the ultrasound, I felt her move!!  For the first time, I knew I was feeling the baby.  It was pretty amazing.  I've gained 11 pounds and still feel really good.

It's A Girl!!

I absolutely could not wait to find out what I was having. It didn't matter either way, I just wanted to know. However, we couldn't just go find out by looking at an ultrasound. My sister was dying to do a revealment party. So, that is what we did. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. My mom, Logan and I went for the ultrasound. It was Logan's first. Sarah waited at home anxiously for the call from the doctor. We watched the screen and heard that sweet little heartbeat until she got to the sex of the baby. Logan, Mom and I shut our eyes as Dr. Dulaney found what she was looking for. She then took the phone in the other room to tell Aunt Sarah. Dr. Dulaney returned to tell us that my sister could "scream really loud." I actually had a feeling then that it was a girl. Everything looked great on the ultrasound.

Of course, it took us an hour and 25 minutes just to get home from Germantown. It was quite a ride, not to mention the sealed envelope containing ultrasound pics that was riding between us. We figured we had made it this far, we wouldn't ruin the surprise. There was a wonderful crowd of family and friends waiting on us at Sarah & Dustin's. Everyone but Sarah went to the backyard. Sarah went out front and let the balloons go. We looked at the sky until we saw the balloons, PINK balloons. I'm pretty sure I heard Patti scream with excitement. She was secretly hoping for a girl. We are all excited to say the least. It was an awesome way to find out such wonderful news!!

Thank you, Sarah and Dustin, for taking the time to do something so special. Baby R is a lucky girl. Yep, she is still Baby R until we agree on a name. Now I'm just waiting to feel her move. I'm 19 weeks, and Dr. Dulaney says it should happen anytime. Pregnancy is so exciting!

The Heartbeat

Today was my second appointment with Dr. Dulaney.  Doubt I'll ever be going alone again, which is fine with me.  Logan had to work.  Mom, Sarah Ellen, and Kristy came along this time.  If you know me at all, you know modest is not a word used to describe me. Yes, they even went in with me to have the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat.  I really didn't think I'd get to hear it this early in the pregnancy.  It was amazing to say the least.  I now have a due date, January 29th, 2013.  No doubt this will be a very special birthday for me.  It seems so far away, but everyone says time will fly.  Don't ask me to find the baby in this picture.  I only know it is my first picture of Baby Roberts!!

We're Having a Baby!!

Hence the beginning of, "Rendezvous With The Roberts Family."

My annual visit to Dr. Dulaney turned into one of the biggest and best days of my life.  Logan and I had a BIG Memorial Day weekend at the lake with Mark and Holly.  We came home yesterday, and today I find out I'm 5 weeks pregnant. If I'd known what I know now, I would NOT have gone to the doctor alone.  When Dr. Dulaney walked in with that pregnancy test, I can't describe the feeling....shaking, smiling, screaming on the inside.  I barely remember driving down Poplar Ave. to meet everyone (Pawpaw, Forrest, Michelle, Mom, Linda) for lunch, but I knew I wanted to tell them all at once so I didn't call.  I HAD to tell someone right away so I called Aunt Ellen.  We both cried tears of joy.  When I finally arrived at Jim's Place and gave the news, they were all ecstatic of course, especially little Patti.

I waited to tell Logan thinking he would want to hear it in person.  I brought him a bib with a cow on it.  He opened it, and said, "For real?"  I think he wishes I'd called him immediately, but I was thinking it would be special to do it in person.  Either way, he is happy, shocked, but happy.  I feel so blessed to have him and a baby on the way!  Hopefully, this blog will make it easier to keep up with all the special memories made by my family.
